What is Dry Needling?
Dry Needling is a natural skin rejuvenation method that softens the appearance of scars and burns. It does not use fillers, injections, lasers, chemical peels or gimmicks and is not Acupuncture. Dry Needling focuses on kick starting your own skins repair and renewal process.
How does it Work?
The process of Dry Needling creates hundreds of microscopic ‘pin pricks’ to activate the bodys own healing process. As your skin heals, your own new Collagen and Elastin is formed. Collagen is what gives us the plump youthful look we all had as a youngster and this fills in the ‘valleys’ of lines and scars naturally by plumping them from the bottom up without the use of anything artificial. Elastin is what gives us the firmness and smoothness, improving the overall appearance of the skin.
How is it performed and does it hurt?
Firstly your skin will be numbed with a topical anaesthetic cream to provide minimal discomfort groups of sterile needles will be inserted into the skin using state of the art digital machinery (each client will have their own disposable needles).
How long is the healing process?
Swelling is minimal and surface (outer) healing occurs within a week to two weeks.
The fantastic side benefit is that even with just one treatment, the body will go on producing Collagen and Elastin for the next 12 months constantly repairing the area.
Surgical Scars – Raised Scars can become smoother and flatter with Dry Needling. Often the procedure can stimulate melanin production correcting scars with loss of pigmentation (colour).
Indented Scars – Dry Needling can decrease the depth of pitted, indented or shallow scars caused by acne, chicken pox or trauma by filling them from the bottom up with the body’s own new Collagen and Elastin from within.
Burns and Accidents – Sometimes fibrous bands of scar tissue can contract and limit movement. Dry Needling can break down the contracted scar tissue to increase flexibility (scar relaxation).
Stretch Marks – Due to the laxity of Stretch Marks, Dry Needling can be very successful in re-tightening the loose skin and plumping up the indentations.
It is essential to have an initial consultation for Dry Needling on a separate day to your treatment. Prices range from £200-£400 depending on the size of the area to be treated.
All information and everything you need for aftercare will be provided on the day of your treatment.
